Auto Collision FAQs:

Here are some of the questions we are asked by our clients, as well as some helpful information.

What should I do if I’m Involved in an accident?

Initially after an accident takes place, the first thing you need to do is stop your vehicle, check that all passengers are safe and injury free, and then call the police.

If there are no injuries and your vehicle is drivable, then move it to the side of the road, if this is not possible turn on your hazard lights and either wait for the police to arrive (more serious accident) or start exchanging insurance and contact details with the other vehicle involved (less serious accident).

What do I need to do if I am injured following an accident?

If you feel that you or one of your passengers may be injured following a collision, then you need to call 911 straight away for an ambulance or other emergency services.

From there, you need to see the relevant medical care practitioner for an assessment of your injury. Then, file an injury accident report with the police and contact your insurance company with a Notice of Loss and Proof of Claim Form. You will subsequently be made aware of the benefits that you may be entitled to.

Do I need to exchange insurance details with the other driver?

It is crucial that you exchange contact and insurance details with all parties involved. It is also wise to take pictures and, if possible, jot down any details pertaining to the accident. If the other party involved refuses to exchange details, then be sure to obtain their license plate number as well as a detailed vehicle and driver description.

What details will my insurance company need?

You need to contact your insurance provider and inform them of relevant details including: how the collision took place; if there are any injured parties and the severity of these injuries; and any damage to vehicles or adjoining property.

Should I pay or accept cash at the scene of the accident?

It is important that you don’t accept blame for the accident at the scene. This means that you must not sign any statement assuming liability or make verbal commitments to pay for the damages that occurred. You must also never accept money or agree to forget about the accident altogether.

What is a repair cost estimate?

It is important that in advance of any repair work being undertaken, both you and your insurer know how much it will cost. That is why at Pro Speed Auto Body we are proud of our tradition of working with certified insurance companies to give you, the driver, the most cost efficient means of repairing your vehicle.
